Education Fights Poverty:

Help AHA Meet Education Needs in Appalachia

Americans Helping Americans Is Dedicated to Improving Education Outcomes for Students Throughout Appalachia

For over 30 years, Americans Helping Americans (AHA) has worked tirelessly to make a positive impact in the lives of students of all ages in the Appalachian region. With five education programs focused on comprehensive solutions, we’re striving to build a sustainable foundation that positively impacts Appalachia for years to come.

“Education is the key to unlock a golden door of freedom.” George Washington Carver

Here’s how we’re fighting poverty through education:

Back to School Program:
We provide backpacks filled with school supplies to partners in Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, and Kentucky.

After-School Program:
We support programs that provide extended learning opportunities and one-on-one tutoring.

Digital Divide:
We work with a local partner to provide low-income children with a computer so they can excel in their studies and not fall behind.

Vocational Training:
Through our vocational training program, we provide young adults with the opportunities they need to bridge the income divide.

Teacher Grants:
We award $20,000 each year to five teachers in the Appalachian region so they can improve learning experiences in their classrooms.
