Neighbors Helping Neighbors in Need after a Devastating Flood

September 30, 2024

The aftermath of Hurricane Helene has left communities devastated, and the cleanup will take days if not weeks. The overwhelming floodwaters have caused significant damage to homes and businesses, leaving many in urgent need of assistance.

Our partner in Jefferson County, Tennessee shared the severe impact this hurricane has had on their community:

“This area is a mountain community with valleys and hollows. Never would we have thought we’d need to prepare for a hurricane. The rivers and tributaries in this area do rise and flood during heavy rains, but this was totally unexpected and hard for both officials and homeowners to prepare for.”

Emergency Response for Georgia and Tennessee

Our community partners in Georgia and Tennessee have requested emergency supplies, including food and essential hygiene items. We are currently preparing shipments of:

  • 1,500 food boxes
  • 3,000 hygiene kits
  • 3,000 diapers
  • Bottled water

These supplies will be delivered to Hall and White Counties in Georgia, and Jefferson County, Tennessee to support families impacted by the floods.

Coordinating with Other Partners in the Southern Appalachian Region

We are also in close contact with other partners across the Southern Appalachian region to assess how we can provide additional support in the coming days. As we mobilize our resources, we are committed to helping those affected by the storm begin the long recovery process.

Help Us Support Those in Need

Your donation can make a real difference for families impacted by the devastating floods caused by Hurricane Helene. Every contribution helps provide essential supplies like food, water, hygiene kits, and diapers to those in need. Together, we can help our neighbors recover from this disaster.
