Harsh Winter Goes Out Like a Lion

March 23, 2011

Although Spring is here, the winter weather remains in many parts of Appalachia. With the rising cost of fuel many families face a difficult decision to heat their homes or face the bitter cold unprotected.

Since July of 2010, Americans Helping Americans® has helped over 109 families pay emergency utility bills and the number is growing.

The winter weather is not over; all around the hollers and hills men, women, and children continue to brave the cold so that they can eat or go to the doctor.  With the rising cost of fuel many families face a difficult decision to heat their homes or face a bitter winter unprotected.  It is a sad fact that some in Appalachia suffer through cold weather in order to assure other basic needs such as food and medical expenses are met;…what basic need would you choose to go without in desperate times?

Since July of 2010, AHA has helped over 109 families pay emergency utility bills and the number is growing.

You can help take the worry of a monthly utility bill off of the minds of mothers and fathers dealing with much more than the issue of warmth in a home by donating online or by mailing in your gift today!
