Americans Helping Americans® is honored to award Davyon Johnson as our Helper of the Month for January. Congratulations, Davyon! When 11 year old Davyon Johnson woke up to go to school on December 9th, he didn’t know he was going to save two lives! At school, he stepped into action to successfully perform the Heimlich maneuver on a fellow classmate who had a bottle cap stuck in their throat. Later that day, Davyon helped an elderly woman escape from a house fire as well! Davyon’s principal in Musckogee, Oklahoma said that Davyon wants to be an EMT - the reason why he was so ready to spring into action. Davyon is a remarkable young man and when people ask him to describe what he did that day, all he says is, It was "the right thing to do.” Americans Helping Americans® is so inspired by Davyon’s heroism that we will be supporting his community in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The Helper of the Month Award is designed to show the amazing, wonderful, hard-working, and dedicated people in American communities. We'll be sharing these stories with you in the hopes that you'll walk away as inspired as we are to do good things in your community!
