In Remembrance of Those Who Made the Ultimate Sacrifice

May 23, 2025

Memorial Day is when the nation remembers and honors those men and women of the United States Armed Forces who died in service to their country and here at Americans Helping Americans®, we wish to commemorate those fallen soldiers who paid the ultimate price to keep our nation safe and free.

Memorial Day had a deep personal meaning to our founder, the late Eugene L. Krizek, USAF Colonel (Ret.), who laid the groundwork for the Veterans Supportive Housing program of Americans Helping Americans® in 1990 as a way to continue his own service to the country he loved and respected throughout his entire life.

Gene noted that his own father’s service in the trenches of World War I taught him a profound sense of patriotism and love of country values that served him well during his own military service, in the halls of Congress, and the White House.  He was so proud that his grandson, imbued with those same values and patriotism, served for many years in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Our military families and soldiers need a hand up from the community as they have given – and continue to give so much for our country. Americans Helping Americans® is honored to say “Thank You” to these brave men and women. With your support, we can help more veterans through distributions of goods and other support services.

Today, our Veterans Supportive Housing program is helping veterans rebuild their lives through innovative, person-centered support by providing affordable housing and essential services to those who have experienced homelessness. By partnering with local organizations and creating a network of support, we’re able to help these heroes navigate the systems of support they’re entitled to.

As a veteran-founded organization, we understand the challenges faced by our veterans and are committed to providing a pathway to rebuild their lives through our comprehensive support services.

So, on this solemn day, we hope you will take some time today to join with us at Veterans Supportive Housing to say a prayer in memory of those fallen.

A safe Memorial Day to you, and God Bless America.
