ABLE Families Helps Enable Children

February 29, 2012

Ashley is a 5th grader at Kermit Elementary School in Kermit, West Virginia.

Each day when the bell rings at 3pm, she doesn’t head home. Instead, she attends Afterschool, a program sponsored by our community partner ABLE Families.

At Afterschool, she has a safe place to go after classes are over and receives a meal as well as homework help for reading and math which are crucial to her success.

She’s able to finish all her homework there so that she can stay on track and learn necessary information.

Thanks to the generosity of your donations and grant money from Americans Helping Americans®, Ashley has been able to attend this program for the past four years and will continue in the future.

Afterschool provides children with a place to learn manners as well as school subjects. It teaches them not to get into fights and rewards them for good behavior with incentives such as pizza parties and prizes. It also helps children like Ashley by giving them the stability they need to succeed and has helped them to be the best they can be.

The Americans Helping Americans® funds help show children in this community that they can be who they want to be and that the sky’s the limit.

Without the help of the Afterschool program, these students might never be able to keep up in class. The program is essential to their triumph and vital to their self-esteem.
